Apps in one: store and dashboard

The client

PA Halal Butcher & Grocer is a family-owned, HMS-certified halal butcher in Woolloongabba. They needed an online store that kept the made-to-order service of their counter. Data Experts 360 designed and built a custom platform where customers choose each cut's weight and preparation, book a pickup or a DoorDash delivery, and track their order, while the owner runs the whole shop from one dashboard.

The challenge

Off-the-shelf store builders treat meat like any other product. A butcher sells by the kilo, prepares every order differently, and hands most of it over at the counter. The shop also needed delivery without hiring drivers, and an owner who could update products, stock and the website without calling a developer.

The brief

What the Client Needed

Sell meat and groceries online without losing the made-to-order service of a butcher's counter.

01

Sell cut-to-order meat online

Customers choose a weight and a preparation (whole, diced, minced and so on) for each cut and can leave cutting notes for the butcher.

02

Sell the grocery range too

Spices, rice, snacks and pantry staples, organised into aisles customers can browse and search.

03

Offer pickup and delivery

Scheduled in-store pickup, plus home delivery without running their own drivers.

04

Make pickup fast at the counter

Staff need a quick way to find and hand over a customer's order.

05

Let customers track their orders

Accounts with order history, live status and the option to cancel a pending order.

06

Run the shop without a developer

The owner manages products, stock, prices, categories, photos and home page content themselves.

07

See how the business is doing

Revenue, orders, top categories and customer insight in one place.

08

Keep it secure

Prices can't be edited from the browser, admin access is protected, and customers see only their own data.

09

Represent the brand

A modern, mobile-friendly site that shows the shop, its halal certification, opening hours and location.

Customer journey

From Browsing to Hand-over

Every order follows the same path, whether it's collected at the counter or brought to the door by a Dasher.

  1. 1

    Browse and search

The meat counter and pantry aisles, with typo-tolerant search.

  2. 2

    Customise each cut

Weight, preparation and cutting notes for the butcher on every line.

  3. 3

    Choose pickup or delivery

An hourly pickup slot up to 7 days ahead, or a live DoorDash quote.

  4. 4

    Follow the order

Status emails and on-site alerts as the shop prepares the order.

  5. 5

    Collect or receive it

A QR code scanned at the counter, or a Dasher booked automatically with live tracking.

Our solution

Built Around How a Butcher Works

A custom store and owner dashboard. Scroll to move through each capability, one at a time.

  1. 01/05
    Shopping

A storefront built around the butcher's counter

Every meat card carries weight and preparation pickers, and the cart takes cutting notes per line, so an online order reads like one placed at the counter.

    • Meat counter with type, cut and prep filters
    • Quick-view modal with a live subtotal
    • Stock badges: In stock, Only N kg left, Sold out
    • Typo-tolerant search that points to the other aisle when an item lives there
  2. 02/05
    Fulfilment

    Scheduled pickup and DoorDash delivery

Customers pick an hourly pickup slot up to seven days ahead, or switch to delivery and get a live DoorDash quote as they type their address.

    • Pickup slots on Brisbane time, with past slots hidden
    • Australian address autocomplete, GPS and a draggable map pin
    • A Dasher is booked automatically when the order is placed
    • Live tracking page with stages, ETA and Dasher details
  3. 03/05
    At the counter

    QR handover in seconds

Each pickup order gets a QR code on screen and by email. Staff scan it with a phone or tablet camera, open the order and mark it handed over.

    • Built-in camera scanner in the admin dashboard
    • Manual order ID lookup as a fallback
    • Status changes notify the customer by email and on-site alert
  4. 04/05
    Owner dashboard

The whole shop, run from one place

The owner manages products, stock, categories, photos and home page content, and sees revenue and orders compared with the previous period.

    • Products with CSV import, bulk delete and photo crop
    • Revenue, order-status and category charts with low-stock alerts
    • Customer tiers (VIP, Regular, New) and lapsed-customer filters
    • Home page editor for the hero, snapshots and gallery
  5. 05/05
    Security

    Secure by design

Prices are set on the server, never by the browser, and row-level security means customers only ever see their own data.

    • Owner-only admin sign-in with optional authenticator-app 2FA
    • Verified email sign-up with a strong password policy
    • Uploads limited to 2 MB with file type checks
